Independent trade unions organized demonstration and festival on 1st May Featured

Traditionally, on May 1, members of the Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Ukraine (KVPU) and the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine (NPGU) held a march and rally in Kryvyi  Rih. This year, the tradition was expanded, as a festival “Mayovka” with lectures on workers rights were organized. These events dedicated to the Labour Day were initiated by Chairperson of the local organization of the Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Kryvyi Rih Yurii Samoilov and the leader of the  Primary Trade Union Organization at the PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih Serhii Ivanchenko. The majority of independent trade unions, workers and activists of NGOs joined these activities.



17 workers died in a mine accident in the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk region Featured

On 25 of April, there was a methane explosion in the illegal mine Skhidсarbon (East Carbon) located near the village Yurivivka in the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk region. The first explosion occurred at 11 am, then in 20-30 minutes, there were two local ones. 17 miners were killed in this accident. The Chairperson of the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine (NPGU) Mykhailo Volynets commented on this tragic event. On behalf of the NPGU, he expressed deep concern regarding the situation with miners safety.

Trade union demands justice for railways workers (UPDATED) Featured

On 19th March members of the Free Trade Union of Railway workers of Ukraine (VPZU) picketed the central office of the PJSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" (Ukrainian railways). The VPZU demanded to raise wages, improve medical services, restore social and pension guarantees, and do not cut jobs. Also, trade unionists required efficient social dialogue. After the protest action, the negotiation between trade union representatives and management have been launched.



Miners protesting underground for four days in the Donetsk region Featured

The miners of mines 1/3 Novogrodivska and Kurakhivska of State-Owned coal-mining Enterprise ‘Selydivvugillia’ are still protesting underground against the non-payment of wages. Today is the fourth day of their protest.

192 miners of the SOE ‘Selydivvugillia’ protesting undergound Featured

Today, 150 miners of the mine "Kurakhivska" of the State-Owned Coal-Mining Enterprise ‘Selydivvugillia’ (Donetsk region) started an underground protest. At the same time 42  their colleagues are protesting in the mine "1\3 Novogrodivska" since 18 February. The main demand of this state-owned coal-mining enterprise workers is to pay off wage arrears which in general amounts up to 250 mln UAH.
